Crevoiserat Sets School Record

UConn Freshman and FLSP athlete Lindsay Crevoiserat (Glastonbury) is already making noise this indoor season as she broke the all-time school record in the 3,000m in her first indoor track meet!  She ran a blistering 9:29.78 at the NYC Armory last weekend.  She was also named Big East Track Athlete of The Week.  On Friday night Lindsay ran the mile at the Great Dane Classic in NYC and finished 4th with a 4:46 mile.  Lindsay is one of the most fierce competitors I know on the track and it doesn't surprise me at all that she is off to this amazing start.  I have a feeling that she will set many more school records throughout her career at UConn.  Congratulations Lindsay!!!

NFL Combine Training Week 2

A great combine workout today for Andre Dixon (UConn)  and Jeff Logan (CCSU).  We spent a lot of time working on the 3 cone drill ("L" Drill) and just getting the technique down.  The guys are working real hard and I can already see the difference in only the second week.  For many football players the "L" drill is the most difficult combine drills.  It features several changes of direction, tight turn around the cones and quck acceleration to the finish line.  Other than the 40yd dash it is the most important drill  because it really exposes the level of flexibility of the athlete's hips and that is what the scouts want to see.  What we did today was break the drill down in two parts.  The change of direction and the figure eight where the athlete has to take tight turns.  After doing several repetitions of both drills we did some test runs on the "L" Drill.  At the end of the workout the athletes got a taste of the prowler suicides.  It's a very intense drill using a prowler that tests the athlete's conditioning.  The guys will have a lifting session tomorrow then its back on the track on Friday for some speed work.

NFL Combine Training

As we begin week 2 of the NFL Combine Training there will be two more athletes that will join in.  Former UConn Linebacker Greg Robinson and Former Central Defensive Tackle Jeff Logan.  These athletes will be workoing out with Andre Dixon for the next seven weeks leading up to the February 25th combine date.  Week 1 went really well as Andre and Greg got to work on some top speed mechanics and speed work.  The also did a superset of ropes and chains pulls that left both athletes floored with fatigue.  I'm looking forward to having Jeff join in this week as we will step it up a notch with the intensity this week.

1/4/12 Combine training Day 1 - A.D.

Today was offically the first day of combine training for Andre Dixon. The former UConn star running back did a 90 minute workout that included a good dynamic warm-up, speed drills, and testing.  We wanted to get some early test results before we really get into the training.  Andre did great in all the performance tests and he is ready to go!  We set some new goals that I feel he can achieve in a 7 week period and now is just putting in the time.  Already I can see that he is a very hard worker and he is a great person!  Tomorrow is weight training day for Andre then we go back to combine training on Friday.  Saturday Febraury 25th is the NFL Regional Combine and it isgoing to be held at the New York Jets Training Facility.  The countdown to the combine begins today.
